Raghu Rai
Raghu Rai was a visual storyteller aka photographer who was born in 1942 in Jhang which is now in Pakistan. And grew up in post-partition India. His photography journey began in the early 1960s after the guidance of his elder brother S. Paul. His professional career took off when he joined The Statesman in 1965 as a photographer and this was the beginning of his career that would last for more than five decades helping redefine visual storytelling in India.
His career is a masterclass in dedication and artistic excellence as he has worked with The Statesman and later became the picture editor at Sunday magazine. He then joined India Today during his formative years which shaped visualised journalism in India.

Raghu Rai Recognition and Excellence
In 1977 he achieved a rare honour when he was nominated to join Magnum Photos by the legendary photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. This was something that put him into the world’s eyes as an elite photographer. Some of his iconic works that captured India in its most defining moments are as follows.

Rakhpuri was admitted in private hospital in New Delhi after he was diagnosed for cancer and age-related complications for many years. He has been diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago and the illness later spread to its organs, including his brain. His death has become worse in the recent month despite his chemos and other treatments. He really spent his last moment with his wife, son, and daughter.
