The latest controversy started after social worker and film financier Vidnyan Mane who is reportedly the childhood friend of Smriti Irani has filed a complaint against Palash Muchhal in Maharashtra’s Sangli. The complaint has allegations related to financial cheating, non-return of investment money, caste-based abuse and criminal intimidation. Vidnyan Mane claimed he invested around ₹25 lakh in a film project linked to Palash Muchhal. The last approached him regarding the project and the money was invested. He promised returns or repayment but that did not happen which is why this case has been brought into the spotlight.
The controversy became more serious after allegations under the SC/ST Act were added. According to reports Vidnyan Mane claimed that during an argument Palash used caste based abusive words against him near the Sangli Ashta road area in 2025. After the complaint police reportedly registered a case and started an investigation.

Palash’s legal team has denied all the allegations. According to this report his lawyer said this is a publicity stunt and a tactic to gain into spotlight. His legal team reportedly said that the issue is only about the money and other things like caste-related remarks are just damaging his public image.
